Introduction
Align is a web application that allows you to export aligned animation frames from the hit MMORPG MapleStory. It is entirely a fan project created by TheSharpUnknown and relies on MapleStory.io to function.
How to Use
To begin, select a Region from the dropdown box. Each option shows an ID and name i.e. GMS (Global).
Once you have selected a Region, the Version input becomes enabled. Select a Version from the dropdown box. The Versions are sorted in order from newest to oldest.
Once a supported Version is selected, the Category dropdown box becomes enabled and will automatically select the Skill value. Currently, only the Skill Category is available.
The Job dropdown box also becomes enabled. Each option shows the ID, name, and job level i.e. 100 Swordsman (1st).
Once a supported Job is selected, the Skill and Animation dropdown boxes become enabled, and the first available Skill and Animation are automatically selected.
The Skill dropdown box options are shown with the ID and name i.e. 1001004 Power Strike. Only Skills with animatiomns are listed as options.
The Animation dropdown box options are shown with the name i.e. effect0. Only affected, ball, effect, or hit animations are available.
Once the desired Skill and Animation are selected, the Animation can either be previewed or exported. If desired, the Frames Per Second (FPS) can also be adjusted from the default value of 30. The maximum supported FPS is 50 due to GIF limitations.
Preview Animation
To preview the animation, click the Preview button after selecting a desired Animation. The Preview Pane will become enabled, and will display the full path of the selected Animation while the frames are loaded.
After the Animation frames are loaded, the Preview Pane will expand to show all Animations frames on a dark transparent checkerboard canvas. The Animate Preview checkbox can be selected, which will instead display an animated GIF of the frames at the selected FPS. The Preview Pane can be shown or hidden by selecting the chevron ( / ) icon button in the top-right hand corner.
To view a different Animation, change the selection above and click the Preview button again. For a faster previewing experience, check the Auto-Preview checkbox to automatically update the preview whenever the Job, Skill, or Animation is changed. Changing the FPS will still require clicking the Preview button.
Export Animation Frames
To export the animation, click the Export button after selecting a desired Animation. This will export the currently selected animation, not the currently previewed animation.
The web browser will either automatically download (or prompt you for a download location, depending on your web browser settings) a ZIP file. The filename will be based on the selected Region ID, Version, Skill ID and name, Animation name, and FPS i.e.
GMS 62 Skill 1001004 Power Strike effect0 30.zip.Within this archive is a folder with the same name, that will contain an aligned PNG file of every frame of the animation named after the Skill ID and name, Animation name, and frame number i.e.
1001004 Power Strike effect0 0.png. Also included is an animated GIF matching the FPS i.e.1001004 Power Strike effect0 Animated 30.gifthat can be used to assist with timing purposes. Due to GIF limitations, the background is set to black.
